Destek Patent, has been founded in 1983 in Bursa in order to provide industrial property services (brand, patent, design etc.) in local and foreign levels. Then, the policies of free market economy and opening up to outside were being conducted in Turkey, with the effects of the liberal currents throughout the world. But unfortunately, in the same period, the protection of intellectual riches were being tried to be conducted by means of the patent laws remained from 1879 and the brand laws remained from 1950’s. What is more, there was not an official and autonomous institution such as Turkish Patent Institute (TPE).

The official registrations were being tried to be made by means of a unit affiliated to the Ministry of Industry. In addition, there weren’t a “attorney” institution, which was recognized by the law and to which an application could be made. Attorneys functioning then could provide service only by being granted a special power of attorney in form of consultancy by the companies.
Destek Patent has been founded under the leadership of Kemal Yamankaradeniz, who is still the founder shareholder and the Chairman of the company, in this development period of Turkey, following an examination on attorney offices in Europe and Unites States and being based on very long-term strategies.

Along with Turkey’s harmonization studies with EU in 1995 and with the participation in the World Trade Organization in the same year, Turkish Patent Institute has been founded and the laws on brand, patent and design have been enhanced to the level of developed countries. In this period, along with the officially application of patent and brand attorney, Destek Patent opened its branch offices first in Ankara and Istanbul, then in İzmir, Konya and Anatolian side of Istanbul. The strategy of development and extension into the industrial regions applied by Destek Patent, made it closer to its clients and transformed it into a structure, which is immediately close its client rather than being an Ankara or Istanbul-centric structure, and which develop solutions and strategies examining the necessities of its clients on site. In order to maintain this expansion strategy of Destek Patent more controlled and to enhance the satisfaction of the clients, we initiated the quality management system works in 1999 and we obtained the ISO 9000 quality management system certificate on industrial rights, which is first in Turkey.

Destek Patent is providing service with its approximately 160 personnel in its offices in Bursa, Ankara, Istanbul- Europe, Istanbul- Anatolian side, İzmir and Konya. 75 of its employees are those graduated from the departments of engineering, law, business management and economy of universities and there are 22 patent and brand attorneys in the staff 13 of which bear the title of “European Patent Attorney”.

Destek Patent has more than 20 thousand clients in country and abroad. Our company is in the first rank in Turkey among the applications for brand, patent and design. In the same way, it is also in the first rank among the applications made from Turkey to foreign countries and is in the first four companies among the applications made from foreign countries to Turkey.

Destek Patent holds an important mission with its market share and leadership in Turkey. This mission is the development of the Turkish industry and trade in terms of intellectual capital and raising awareness in our industrialist in order that they may be competitive in international arena. For this purpose, our company actively participated in the foundation of International Patent Association (UPB). In addition, it publishes and distributes the journal “Patent Dünyası” (Patent World), which is three-monthly issued in more than 10.000 copies, in order to raise awareness in industry and trade people. Furthermore, it organizes conferences, panels and meetings in chambers of industry and commerce on subjects on which it specialized.

Destek Patent aims at providing a rapid and honest service based on the privacy principles to its clients with its accumulation of knowledge. In the basis of our services lays brand, patent and design attorney as well as other industrial and intellectual rights. In the attorney services, the consultancy, research, registration, procedures following registration and constructing strategies constitute the basis. As well as those, a law department, which work on only intellectual and industrial rights in order to find solutions to the legal problems with which the clients confronts, and thus not only the attorney services but also the legal needs related to intellectual and industrial rights are provided for the clients.
